Join us at this Coffee & Jam event to hear from two awesome founders who are running startups in the sustainability sector to help shape and transform the World!
First, you’ll hear from Imogen McRae, founder at The RePAVER Project. Imogen is a UC Product Design and Biochemistry student, who is passionate about sustainability, community and creating positive impact. Her start-up social enterprise venture “The RePAVER Project” fulfils these desires by harnessing the potential of waste to improve the living environment of local communities.
Imogen will describe The RePAVER Project journey, from it’s inception mid-2021 to now, and the opportunity to grow from here. A key emphasis will be on the values-based approach she has taken when developing her enterprise.
Next we’ll have Sara Smeath, founder at CiRCLR. Having started as a fashion designer under the mentorship of Karen Walker, Sara’s humble beginnings from New Zealand has led her on a journey across the world. After developing her own award-winning accessories label based in Indonesia, with stockists in Australia and New Zealand, Sara relocated to Australia to lead a design team in Sydney before moving to China to work for the world’s largest fashion retailer as a trend forecaster. Sara introduced connections between suppliers to create new sustainable and circular outcomes for fashion components, reducing friction and normalising recycled yarn use throughout the supply chain.
Sara began her own startup to explore ways to incorporate circularity and technology to streamline the fashion industry. Sara has taken her leading knowledge of circularity in Asia as well as her passion for design to tackle a new challenge: New Zealand’s waste problem.
Doesn’t that sound awesome? Register now to save your seat and come to meet your startup tribe. Hear first hand about the amazing new innovations that are happening in Christchurch. If you are a startup looking to connect, then this is the event for you!
*Please note: If you are not able to make it, please let us know in advance so we can reduce the amount of food waste as this is a catered event. Please also bring a reusable cup to this event to help reduce waste!
Parking: Unfortunately, there are no parking options available at EPIC. There are plenty of car park buildings close by for individuals to pay to use.
