Startup Breakfast Club: Māori Entrepreneurship

At this month’s Startup Breakfast Club, we’ll hear from Vincent Egan – the founder and CEO of Māui Studios. Māui Studios is a Christchurch-based digital creative agency made up of ‘ao hangarau, tohunga generating original content for whānau ora, visionaries and commercial business’. Vincent will speak about his journey of starting and scaling Māui Studios Aotearoa.

We’ll then hear from Tari White, Senior Business Growth Advisor at Te Puni Kōkiri, the Ministry of Māori Development. Tari will share the support services available for Māori entrepreneurs through Te Puni Kōkiri and how Māori entrepreneurs can leverage the support and network offered by the Ministry.

And last but not least, we’ll have Jacob Varghese, Te Ōhaka’s Innovation Manager, speaking about the support available for Māori founders and innovators at Te Ōhaka through the Te Ōhaka Startup Incubation Programme.

Vincent Egan

Vincent is the founder and CEO of Māui Studios. Māui Studios is a Christchurch-based digital creative agency made up of ‘ao hangarau, tohunga generating original content for whānau ora, visionaries and commercial business’. Vincent will speak about his journey of starting and scaling Māui Studios Aotearoa.

 

Tari White
Senior Business Growth Advisor @Te Puni Kōkiri, the Ministry of Māori Development

Tari provides a range of support services to Māori businesses at different points of the business lifecycle, from start-ups through to established businesses looking to grow. These services include advice, networking support, needs assessments, and investment in building business capability.

Tari will be providing an overview of the support services available through Te Puni Kōkiri and encouraging businesses to maximise their involvement in existing business networks.

Jacob Varghese
Innovation Manager @Te Ōhaka

Jacob designs and manages our innovation programmes. He was an investment banker before joining MoA and has been with MoA for 3 years. He played a critical role in founding our incubator Te Ōhaka and works with our founders in their commercialisation journey. He is an Economics graduate with Postgraduate qualifications in Financial Markets and Business Management.

Jacob will speak about the support available for Māori founders and innovators at Te Ōhaka through the Te Ōhaka Startup Incubation Programme.
