Join us at this Startup Breakfast Club about Public Relations & Communications (PR & Comms) for Startups. First up you’ll hear from Chris Wilcock, PR Manager at ChristchurchNZ. Chris is a creative problem solver. Before starting at ChristchurchNZ, he worked on Digital and Social campaigns at Great Scott PR – for multiple Tourism, Ministry, Local Government and Not-For-Profit clients. He played a critical role with All Right?, Sparklers and the Mental Health Foundation of NZ campaigns through Covid – advising on activations for the ‘Getting Through Together’ campaign supporting Kiwi’s mental health during the pandemic.
Chris will talk about how to engage reporters and editors effectively to get their attention and gain media traction.
Next, you’ll hear from Leni Ma’ia’i founder at DIG PR. Leni started his PR career in 2016 trying to get US news makers to start talking about something called “cryptocurrency”. Soon realising there was no future in the stuff, he sold his bitcoin for a couple of hundred bucks and returned to NZ to chase more promising dreams. Leni has since started DIG PR, an agency giving startups a bigger, better voice.
At this event Leni will share some tips and tricks on how to share a compelling story as a Startup in the media.

Parking: There are parks across the road by Washington Skate park or out the front of the Te Ōhaka building along Moorehouse avenue. These parks can fill up very quickly in the morning. There are also parks found along Allen Street off of Madras Street along the front of the ARA building. The rest of the carparks found around this area are pay to park carparks.
Directions to Event: K Block is located in the glass building along Moorehouse Avenue – Directly across the road from Washington Skate Park. The easiest way to the event is to walk through the car park and enter the glass doors, right of the Strategy building on the corner of Moorhouse Avenue & Madras Street.
